INSURANCE INFORMATION

TAC Vehicle Rental Insurance Options

TAC requires that you carry insurance coverage for your rental vehicle. You can do this through your own policy, or by purchasing a basic renter’s insurance policy through our carrier. In addition, we offer the option to supplement either your own insurance or the basic renter’s policy by purchasing supplemental insurance coverage. Each option is described below.

OPTION 1: USE YOUR OWN INSURANCE

If your personal insurance extends coverage to a camper, RV, and/or modified vehicle, you can use this insurance for your rental. Please note our vehicles are considered “conversions,” “modified vehicles,” or RVs with off-road travel. Not all insurance companies cover these types of rentals. Ask your insurance if they will cover the specific vehicle you are renting.

HOW IT WORKS

  • We will ask for copy of your ID and insurance card

WHAT YOU GET

  • Whatever coverage and limits you have on your policy.

COST

  • No additional cost beyond what you’re already paying for your policy.

DRAWBACKS

  • If there is an incident your insurance company will be involved and this can impact your premiums. You are responsible for any amounts beyond your policy limits. Also if your carrier declines coverage, you are on the hook for every.

Option 2: Renter’s Insurance

If your personal auto insurance doesn’t cover our rigs or you don’t have it (i.e. don’t own a car, or international traveler), you are required to buy this renters’ insurance that will cover you at the minimum limits required in Colorado.

What you get

  • Colorado state minimums:

    • $25,000/person, $50,000/accident liability for bodily injury

    • $15,000 property damage

    • $2,500 deductible

    • Coverage in all states and Canada

    • All drivers listed on rental agreement will be covered by policy

COST

  • Varies from at $46/day to $67/day depending on the vehicle:

  • 4Runners: $46/day, Land Cruisers and Truck Camper: $59/day, Vans: $67/day

DRAWBACKS

  • Colorado’s required minimums are low, and you are liable for any amount of damages or costs that exceed these minimums. Also, there are some items that this policy does not cover. It will not cover tires or non-factory items like aftermarket rooftop tents, racking, body armor, etc. It also does not cover towing.

How to purchase

  • Go to our carrier’s webpage (Note: can’t be purchased more than 30 days before trip starts)

  • Verify rental operator by plugging in our policy number: 303238.

  • Select your trip dates

  • Input VIN code for your rental vehicle, scroll to bottom of page for codes. NOTE: We have multiples of most vehicles and you may not know which one you are in, send us a quick email and we can tell you which one you have.

Add-On Option: Supplemental LIability Insurance

If your personal insurance extends coverage to a camper, RV, and/or modified vehicle, you can use this insurance for your rental. Please note our vehicles are considered “conversions,” “modified vehicles,” or RVs with off-road travel. Not all insurance companies cover these types of rentals. Ask your insurance if they will cover the specific vehicle you are renting.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Up to $1,000,000 liability for 3rd party bodily injury

  • Up to $50,000 for 3rd party property damage

  • $0 deductible for 3rd party liability claims

COST

  • $19.95/day (that is on top of the daily rate above)

  • *NOTE: This document is an informational summary only and not a guarantee of coverage. Coverage will be as provided in the actual policy documents provided by the insurance carrier upon approval.
